Sensuous Pencil

angels everywhere

The relationship began
after the world shifted
when my thoughts
would flow
from the tip of a soft pencil.
the ambulance took her
away in an afternoon glare,
I wondered when Mama would come home again.
A child learns
to disengage
to retreat
into a softer place
where shadows are friendly
and roses do not sting.
Take some water and add
a highlight
to the blues.
It doesn’t have to be this way again.

  1. So sad and beautiful. I love your image of a “softer place where shadows are friendly and roses do not sting.” The soft blue colors in your drawing speak of such a place. ❤

    1. Thank you Viva. Well I don’t feel sad now. Mother survived the stroke at 46 and lived on into her 80’s. The shadows and stings are really just symbols for life’s ups and downs. Cheers! ❤
