To draw the model
beyond glitz
and bawdy lies
there is a world
not in disguise.
It’s sophisticated
never demeaning or rude.
Everyone knows
artists draw the nude.
We paint and sketch,
a covey of characters and friends
lost in our thoughts,
the 20-something model twists and bends.
The curves at her elbow
the softness of her limbs,
I hope I can get this gesture right
before the light dims.
To live beyond the fakery
to create more than a façade
imaginative art and poetry
is how artists deal with the odd.
